Hi again friends , today in this post I will be talking about how is it to be in the medical college. First of all you will be very excited for sitting on those golden benches and making the feel for being proud for yourselves.but before that there is a medical fitness test which you all have to undergo to be declared fit for the beginning of the journey.some of you might be thinking of how tough it would have been , but in reality it is just a little intro infact to the institution where you would be asked about your blood group , your eyesight would be checked(don't worry you should be 6/6 with or without glasses) then your chest would be checked via stethoscope , your mental status accessed and so on. I could not find a single person being excluded on the basis of fitness test.so make it easy.
After you have successfully undergone these basic formalities, you would be ready for your most awaited moment of your life i.e. MBBS. Most students believe that 1st prof. Is difficult just because of anatomy, rest of subjects are fine.basically 1st profession is divided into 3 subjects
ANATOMY
PHYSIOLOGY
BIOCHEMISTRY
ANATOMY is further subdivided into :-
1.Gross Anatomy
2.Histology
3.Neuroanatomy
4.Embryology
Each subjects have their respective theory and practical examinations.
When you will enter in a medical college , then you will come to know why anatomy is the toughest of all. Apart from this anatomy also has body dissection, studying bones ,organs etc.
Now I will tell you how to study to pass 1st Profession with grace:-
First of all I would like to tell the books you would need
ANATOMY- B.D. Chaurasia(BDC)
Embryology- Inderbir singh
Histology-Inderbir Singh
Osteology-inderbir singh
Cunningham manual of anatomy - only for body dissection instructions
Don't go for Grey's anatomy as bdc is pretty good at undergraduate level and is word by word copy of Grey's anatomy (but cut short for undergraduates) + much cheaper+ easily reproducable diagrams.
You don't have time to read heavy books. Syllabus is holy good and time microscopic.
What you have to do is just read the topics covered in theory classes and get a chapter wise ten year question list and mug up the answers.
It will hardly take 4- 6 hours for one chapter.
Practical classes of anatomy will be held in D - hall ( dissection hall) and histology lab.
Now let me tell you the motto of dissection - Most of us interpret it knowly that it would be a surgery class but no it is just to make you learn about various arteries , veins, nerves and organs which you will yourself explore by using scalpel blades on the preserved dead bodies(cadavers).Always keep netter atlas with you (you can download it in your phone) to see the structure you have dissected. Netter Atlas has set of images of dissected bodies.
The more you will explore yourself ,the more you will remember.
For physiology and biochemistry I don't need to tell you much.
Physiology is all you have been studying in your biology classes but in good detail.
New thing to you is the practical classes where you will be taught blood cell counting under microscope which require ample of practice, perimetry exercises for eye examination, blood pressure recording exercise etc.
Biochemistry is the another name if flowcharts including glycolysis Krebs cycle.
Practicals include blood sugar examination, serum transaminase, urine examinations done for sugar, protein estimations
Don't forget to play any game of your ineterst in the evening. After playing you will feel more refreshments to study more.
Always remember that there are 3 rules of success:-
1.HARDWORK
3.PLAYING
3.KEEPING MOUTH SHUT.
BYE FRIENDS AND GOOD LUCK
